AI 101- Introductory Knowledge

 

Class Description: This class is designed to provide a foundational understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) for beginners, exploring the basic concepts, history, and applications of AI in various fields.

Learned Outcomes: Participants of this workshop will:

·        Define artificial intelligence and understand its core principles.

·        Trace the historical development of AI with its key milestones.

·        Identify different types of AI, including narrow AI and generative AI.

·        Recognize the various applications of AI in our industry.

·        Discuss the ethical considerations and challenges associated with AI.

 Presenter Bios:

Nicholas GorhamTighe & Bond, Learning and Development Manager in the Corporate Business Line. He has 20 years of diverse experience in organizational development in the fields of telecommunications, medical devices, and business technology. He also has consulting experience in Washington DC, US Coast Guard training, international education as a teacher of psychology, and psychiatric services at Tufts Medical Center in downtown Boston.

Gustav (Gus) Boyer – Tighe & Bond, Staff Engineer specializing in vertical structural engineering. His experience includes 1.5 years of consulting in the design of ultra high-end residences, flood-resistant foundations, and wastewater treatment infrastructure composing of wood, reinforced concrete, and steel superstructures. He is interested in leveraging BIM and AI solutions to advance the efficiency and quality of project deliverables to his clients.
